Articles of Faith

We believe …

1. In the equality and distinct personality of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in one Triune Jehovah.

2. In eternal and personal election in Christ Jesus unto salvation.

3. That guilt, condemnation and death, through the fall of Adam, passed upon all mankind and alienated all from the life of God, and that none have power apart from God to return to him.

4. In particular and eternal redemption by the vicarious sacrifice and shed blood of Christ Jesus, whereby he that believes is enabled to testify, “He loved me and gave himself for me.”

5. That saving faith is the gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

6. That regeneration is the work of God the Holy Spirit, by whom the people of God are sanctified through the word of truth.

7. That justification is through the favour of God, who imputes to him who believes in Jesus his perfect obedience and righteousness. His faith is accounted to him for righteousness.

8. That as a result of being regenerated and made new creatures in Christ Jesus believers in him should be servants of righteousness unto holiness that the grace of God might be magnified and his holy name glorified.

9. That all the people of God shall finally overcome the world, the flesh and the devil and enter into the everlasting glory of God.

10. In the resurrection, both of the just and the unjust, unto the judgment of the great day.

11. That as a result of that final judgment the wicked shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.

12. That, by the command of Jesus Christ our Lord, it is our solemn duty to preach the gospel of God’s saving grace to every creature.

13. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired and infallible word of God.

14. In the congregational order of the church.

15. That baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church of Christ, that both should be honoured by believers in Christ and that baptism should precede participation in the Supper. The Lord’s Supper is a continuing reminder of the cost of our redemption and the certainty of his return.
